Pearl Bay

Anchored in Pearl Bay
Capricorn Coast, Queensland
Australia
22'26.6S/150'43.9E

We left Yeppoon at 6am this morning, minus one crew member who jumped ship. Mike flew back to Sydney for a few days. Then he is flying home to Reno Nevada. We still have a crew of 3, Iain is still on board until we get to Mackay on Friday.

We motor-sailed most the day, and we tried to sail using the spinnaker which we have not used since California. But the winds would not hold out for us. So we motor-sailed the 50 miles to where we are now anchored.

Pearl Bay is along the coast with lots of trees, sand, hills, and nothing else for hundreds of miles. We are anchored here along with three other Australian boats. We are planning on leaving at sunrise tomorrow morning for another 50 miles trip to Percy Island.

We left our friends from the S/V Shiraz back at Keppel Island. They are heading north tomorrow. Our friends from the S/V Blue Sky have finally broken free from Sydney and trying to get north to catch up to us.

I have to keep this short at I need to give the "crew" a beating in scrabble.

Tom, Amy, and Iain
