We are officially under way from San Diego and heading South, off the coast of Mexico at 7 knots!! San Diego was a super crazy busy stop trying to get all the last minute boat parts and groceries. Our friend George from Oakland showed up and is going to be part of Sandpiper's crew till we get to Cabo.

Amy's dad, Bob, who lives in Sacramento, and his girlfriend Holly, who lives in San Diego, came down to see us off.

Sunday was a big send off party for all the Baja HaHa participants. This event is being held by Latitude 38 sailing magazine and they sponsored the party. It was a costume party, and Team Sandpiper represented Oakland, with Oakland shirts and afros.

There are 150 boats entered in this event and we all left this morning at 11am. We actually had wind to sail and was able to sail over the start line with our spinnaker up.

Our first stop is Turtle Bay and should take us 3 days to get there if all goes well, we will update this later when the boat is not rolling around.
